History

During the winter semester 2008, we first based the Ersti-brochure heavily on a template 1) of the BCE's, but we just had that as a PDF, so we were only able to copy the text from there.

Eventually the first Ersti-brochure came to be, after nobody took care of anything for 2 months, as a cloak-and-dagger operation with the help of LaTeX, shining new Uni copy machines and the Astro-group's stapler.

We worked on the brochure from 2012 and made the following adjustments:

  • Datum auf dem Deckblatt muss geändert werden
  • 1.1 Termine müssen alle neu gemacht werden
  • Die Module für die Erstsemester und ihre Modulverantwortlichen müssen auf Aktualität geprüft werden
  • 2 Die FSR Mitgliederliste muss aktualisiert werdenCheck ob das jetzt so stimmt
  • Bei der Wahl für die Semestersprecher müssen wir das Datum der Woche aktualisieren
  • 2.3 Das Konzept des MINT-Raumes muss aktualisiert werden
  • 2.4 Stimmen die Verantwortlichen Studienberater noch?
  • Gibt es das Mentorenprogramm der Mathematik noch?
  • 4.5 E-mail mathe13@fsr.physik.uni-potsdam.de und physik13@fsr.physik.uni-potsdam.de einrichten und verlinken. Die Adressen sind angelegt und auf der MaphyListe und Infoschleuder hinzugefügt.
  • 5.2 Termin Bücherbasar festlegen und eintragen. Wird es den dieses Jahr geben?
    Bücherbasar ist im Moment so gut wie tot, dehalb wird er bis auf weiteres rausgenommen
  • 5.6 Gibt es jemanden, der den Stammtisch jeden Dienstag organisiert?
    ist ebenfalls bis auf weiteres tot und wird auch erst einmal rausgenommen
  • 5.7 Aktuelle Infos zur Erstifahrt
  • Im Anhang KVV Physik ergänzen
  • Physik Einführungsveranstaltungen ergänzen
  • es wäre schön wenn jemand etwas neues zur KIP schreiben könnte, im letzten Jahr haben die KIP's ja fast keinen Interessiert… (somit ist hier Platz für eine Umstrukturierung?!)
  • wieder die Lagepläne abzudrucken (Golm und NP) Und das Raumnummersystem erklären
  • Vorwort auf der Innenseite des Covers eingefügt
  • Auf der letzten Seite FB Link und QR Code für FB aufgefürt
  • Hochschulsport nicht nur im Anhang verlinken, sondern auch im Heft erwähnen
  • im Anhang Moodle2 und MatheMoodle2 verlinkt
  • Mathe Fuchs entfernt
  • FB Link und QR-Code auf der Rückseite eingefügt
  • Rechtschreibprüfung von V1.1
  • Nightline Potsdam hinzugefügt
  • Hier habe ich einmal das Erstiheft der FU-Berlin hochgeladen aus dem wir ein paar Anregungen holen können. Desweiteren versenden die einen Erstibrief FU, den ich auch mal hinzufügt.

2010

During the losed meeting we continued working on basis of the .tex file and now the actualized version is available. So far it's only Utf8-coded, which turns out to be bothersome when working with the TexnicCenter. If anybody feels a calling to do so, please add latin1-coding.

2008

In lack of a good template from a comparable brochure, the LaTeX-Header came to be as a melange of primarily the LaTeX Companion 2) and a few web pages.

and for desperates without UTF-8 support (like you TeXnicCenter-users appareantly) one Latin1 coded version: Ersti brochure-tex-latin1.zip

Each chapter is loated in a seperate file (allgemeines.tex, studiengang.tex, privilegien.tex, ansprechpartner.tex, verwaltung.tex und sonstiges.tex), that were all bound in from the main part Brochure.tex .

There's a new list environment verantw, which is used for contact data:

In this example you can already see the introduced function \email, which automatically links the email adresses.

We also wrote the date flyer in TeX: flyer.tex

From the screen into the brochure

The brand? DIY

After translating the PDF you, in order to properly copy it, have to reorganize it into a booklet format. For this i used a program called jPDFTweak. In the programs shuffle pages register card you can find many presets for booklets (which one's the right one is something I'd have to figure out again too).

  • Then you print out a template
  • and take that to a copy machine.
  • First of all you print the cover on thicker colored paper, that's faster and you don't have to wait too long.
  • after that the copy template (if the cut-sheet-feed doesn't work you might have to put it in one by one)
  • while the copy machine now spits out the brochures one by one, you should get to stapling – until 100 pieces are spat out, it might take on hour (or more)
  • we borrowed the large stapler from the Astro-group, just go ask Andrea Brockhaus.

The easy, but timely planned way

You could also give a heads up to the AVZ and give them a copy task. This takes a week in advance, which we didn't have.
